Hello everyone!
I’m nearing the end of my current bullet journal and I thought it might be fun to share my process of migrating into a new journal. This new journal with be my 4th one!
I decided to go with a bright cheerful color for this new one. I’ve been using my current journal (the pale blue one) for about 9 months now. My journals tend to last me quite a while. Each time I get to the last few pages I get excited to migrate to a new one. It’s a fresh start, a chance to try some new ideas and to regroup.
I start by writing down everything I can possibly think of to keep doing and anything else I might want to add. I ended up with a pretty extensive list this time around. Then, I comb through the lists and decide which ones I want to include in the front of the new notebook. Some of the ideas I wrote down I might use at some later date, while there are others I probably won’t use at all.
Next, I open up my new journal! It’s very satisfying to have a blank notebook before me just waiting to be filled with creativity, memories and to do lists (hopefully, to-dos that will be completed!) I like to write the spread names on page flags and then move them around my notebook until I have them in an order I like. It’s a little difficult to write with the sticky notes on the pages because they make things bumpy. So, once I have an order that I like, I write the page number on the flags, take them out and stick them on my desk. This might seem like a pointless step since I could have written down the page numbers to begin with. However, I find it useful to actually see the spreads in the journal. To be fair, I really love organizing things and this might just be an excuse to do so.
I then begin penciling in the basics of each spread. I don’t trust myself to go straight in with pen, I have a tendency to make a lot of mistakes. However, the mistakes only really bug me on the spreads I’ll be referring to often. Otherwise for things like daily and weekly spreads white out is my best friend.
Then it’s time to put pen to paper! This is where the journal really starts coming to life. I don’t add a ton of decorations or color, I prefer the more minimalist approach. Most of the spreads I’ve included are ones I’ve used before. However, I do have one new one. I was inspired by Caitlin over at Sunshine and Stationary’s library loan page and wanted to include something similar in my own bullet journal (I have a tendency of forgetting when library books are due). And just like that (well it took a few hours) my new bullet journal is all set up for me to begin using in June!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post; I know it’s a bit different than what I normally post, but I’m enjoying switching things up a bit. Don’t worry though! The creative writing and poetry pieces aren’t going anywhere!
Thank you for stopping by Scribe’s Canvas! Your continued support means a lot to me and encourages me to keep posting. I hope all of you are having a great Sunday.
Until next time,

I really want to start bullet journal ling. I just don’t understand how it works😂😂😂
It’s a great system! I recommend looking up videos on YouTube. The YouTuber Boho berry has a bullet journaling 101 series that I found helpful. My other advice is to just go for it, I learned a lot by just playing around
I use 6 x 8 black journals so I can keep them on the shelf easier. I use to use small extra large medium giant books. They are hard to keep together on the shelf so I keep them in a drawer and my “all one size” on the shelf. I write notes all the time and i cut them down to size and glue them on the pages. I can’t stand rewriting and i am getting tired of punctuation. I am up to #24 but I write with large letters because my hands hurt alot, so it sounds like more than it is. I still have a ton with all those notes and notes I voice to text on my phone that I send to evernote.
One other thing…I do mix colors, not just black all the time but they do stay the same size. I have been finding alot of blank journals that I can use at thrift stores. They are only 99 cents and at that price I don’t worry what the cover looks like. I have thought of spraying the covers black or red.
That’s a great idea! I hadn’t thought of looking at thrift stores for notebooks
