On June 1st, I was randomly surfing through Buzz Feed (as one does) and found an article about something called the bullet journal. I had never heard about it before, but it grabbed my attention. I read the article and knew instantly that I wanted to start my own.
The bullet journal was developed by Ryder Carrol. I’m not going to go into a detailed explanation of how the bullet journal works (let me know if you want me to), but feel free to check out the original video or the Buzz Feed article that I found.
Here’s a brief explanation: the main idea is that you start big and work your way to small. You start with a long-term calendar and then move into monthly ones, weekly (if you want) then daily schedules and tasks. You simply use the method of migration (explained in the two links above) to keep track of what tasks you have and haven’t done yet.
I have fallen in love with this method of organization. It’s great for anyone that has many different lists lying around. Which I used to have a ton of. All of those lists of books you want to read, movies you want to read, etc. can be added to your bullet journal.
One of my favorite things is that you can change how it looks and what you are doing at any time! You can use any journal or notebook you want and simply get started. I love the versatility and countless options available. I enjoy being able to change things as I go because I can always change it the next day, week, and so on. I love having all of my lists in one place: a small, easy to carry, notebook.
Since I started my own a month and a half ago, I have started to develop my own style of journaling. It feels so nice to have the encouragement to be creative every day (I like making my bullet journal pretty and am currently working on my handwriting).
I’ve noticed that since I began my stress level has gone down drastically. I no longer have twenty different tasks and events floating around in my mind. I have wanted to develop healthy habits (a habit tracker is a great incentive, as you get to check things off; which, if you’re anything like me, is highly satisfying).
I hope to continue to work on my bullet journal and make it work even better for my needs. I am so happy that I stumbled upon that Buzz Feed article in June. I have found a wonderful community in fellow bullet journalers, and a wonderful way to stay organized.
Here are some people that I follow on Instagram that inspire me to try new things in my journal:

If you love ways to be organized or want to be more organized, I highly recommend looking into starting a bullet journal. There’s no harm is trying it out! Have fun and let the creative juices flow!
I am obsessed with this post – and now bullet journals. Uh oh. I followed all of those Instagram accounts now because they are so dang pretty! Yours look awesome! You will most likely be getting questions from me when I start mine now – Love it!!!
Thank you! And that’s what happened to me, I started following more and more people because they’re so beautiful! I welcome the questions and have fun getting started!
Wow I love how this looks! Where do you get the ideas for all the decorations? I would love to try this and definitely would want mine beautifully decorated too.
I looked up different ways to do headers on Pinterest and the weather symbols I originally got inspired by Boho Berry (though a lot of people do them as well). The other decorations are mostly just random ideas and/or from an photo I liked. I hope you have fun getting started! I’m sure it will be wonderfully beautiful!
Thanks Acire! 🙂 Should’ve thought to look on Pinterest. Always a good place to look haha
I always forget about Pinterest, and when I remember I spend sooo much time looking at different ideas! :p
Hi, Acire! Thanks for visiting my site!
I really like this idea of bullet journaling. As a busy wife/mom, this is exactly what I need to document my day and thoughts.
I am also in the process of re-branding my blog. I tried really hard to do it myself, having some experience in HTML, but finally gave up and am paying a local designer to help me with it.
It looks like you have skills as an artist, as well. It’s a terrific combo!
Best wishes for your writing!

Thank you so much!
The bullet journal really helps me keep things organized.
I had some help from friends who are good with design, they helped me with the color scheme and those kinds of things.
Good luck with your rebranding!
